Sahara Desert

We had a beautiful drive to the Sahara via the Atlas Mountains.  Arrived at our Berber Campsite about 4:30.  We enjoyed some mint tea before heading out for our camel ride.  We rode camel’s for about an hour while watching the sun set over the dunes.  It was an amazing experience.  Not as scary as I thought it would be.

Cape Town, S. Africa

We arrived in Cape Town on March 2nd.  We immediately got a 2 day pass for the Hop On, Hop Off bus. What a great way to see Cape Town.  Cape Town is a beautiful city with a rich history, some good, some bad.  I rented a 2 bedroom Airbnb for two nights and invited our friend, Traci to join us.  It was very close to Table Mountain and near lots of great restaurants.  The bus has different lines.  The red line took us through the city and out along the coast,  Yesterday, we began our day with a walking tour of downtown Cape Town and then we took the Blue to the Purple which took us past beautiful homes and out to a winery where we had lunch.  We met Amy, a fellow American from Rockland County, NY who now lives in San Francisco. She joined us for lunch.  As we headed back to our Airbnb we drove past a township, so we saw how the Haves and Havenots in Cape Town live.  We again drove along the coasts for beautiful views.  Tomorrow T...

Tangier, Morocco

Had a lovely morning on a field program of bread making in the Medina of Tangier.  We learned how the Moroccans make their mint tea and their wheat bread.  Both were so delicious!  We walked our bread to the community oven.  While it was baking we learned all about the process of mixing spices for the tea.  Soon our bread arrived and we sat down to a wonderful meal!
