Maputo

Our ship was diverted from Mauritius to Maputo, Mozambique. A cyclone was headed straight to Mauritius.  We are only in Maputo for 2 days.  The first day we did some shopping and then checked into the Polana Serena hotel for one night.  It must seem like all we do is go to resorts, but when we get to port we have a need to get out of our small stateroom.  Here we have a lovely room with a large balcony overlooking the Indian Ocean.  Being an early riser, I woke up to sunrise at 5:30.  Today we will tour the city and then set sail at 7p.m.  As with every stop, we have met the loveliest people in Maputo.  I will add city pictures later.  Miss you all!

Beautiful Diani Beach, Kenya

After our Safari we drove to Diani Beach on the coast of Kenya.  We have had temps close to 100 every day in Kenya so the ocean breezes have been a welcome change.  I spent the whole day yesterday under my Tiki hut with a good beach read.  I did take 2 dips in the ocean which felt great.  Our resort is the Diani Sea Resort.  It is just wonderful.

Tsavo East Safari

We traveled for 2 days with our guide, Ronny, on a safari in Kenya.  The scenery was beautiful and it was amazing to see the animals in their natural habitat.  Here are some of the pictures.

Mombasa, Kenya

Spent an amazing day with a tour guide named Humphrey Udungu.  He took us to Old town Mombasa.  We toured the Jesus fort.  It was first established by the Portuguese, then taken by the soldiers of the Sultan of Oman which led to Mombasa being a Muslim city.  Eventually the British colonized Kenya.  We visited a spice market, and had a lovely lunch at a wonderful restaurant overlooking the water.  Tomorrow we head to Tsavo East for a 3 day safari.
